I am a multimedia freelance journalist and communications consultant, specialising in environmental issues, social justice and international development, with more than two decades’ experience in writing and editing for print and digital media. My stories have been published by global media outlets, including The Guardian, Al Jazeera, Mongabay, China Dialogue, The New Humanitarian among others.  

My passion is telling human-focused stories that communicate the complexities of issues, expose social injustices and challenge perceptions. I have produced in-depth investigative reports on illegal fishing and illegal logging in West Africa and the Solomon Islands, reported extensively on irregular migration from West Africa to Europe, and covered the political transition from dictatorship to democracy in the Gambia, telling the stories of victims of human rights abuses. I also co-produced a 30-minute documentary for Amnesty International on Gambians who risked their lives to stand up for human rights: ‘We Never Gave Up: Stories of Courage in Gambia’.  See all my work here.

As a communications consultant, I use my storytelling skills to transform complex, often technical, information into engaging and accessible narratives tailored to target audiences. I have recently worked with the environmental consultancy Systemiq to write and edit public-facing multimedia web stories on sustainable farming practices published on its website Regeneration.io.
